As we are approaching nearer to WWDC 2011, many of our predictions are confirmed by Apple and some still left for the announcement on 6 June. We are not sure if all would be fulfilled but we will not stay behind expecting many desired features in the iOS 5.0 for iPhone, iPodTouch and iPad. Unfortunately, the upcoming software update will not be available instantly for the world. Firstly, several iOS 5 betas will be released for the developers followed by a Gold Master (GM) version and then the final release. This is what the history says, not us. Unlike every year, there wouldn’t be any iPhone 4S/5 waiting for us in this world’s largest event. In fact, if you listen to rumors, then there would be no hardware announcement. The conference will be entirely software specific.
Let’s discuss some of our predictions, out of which some have been already confirmed for iOS 5.0 :
1) iCould : One of the hype attained rumor confirmed by Apple prior to WWDC 2011 in an open invite to attendees for the event. The long awaited mystery has been revealed. Apple will unveil its cloud service to sync the music over iCloud seamlessly. The rumors also suggesting that the iCloud may not be free for all, a trial version for all the Mac OS X Lion owners. Some sources also claiming that the iCloud will be able to sync even the pirated music which is not purchased from the iTunes Store and Apple is ready to pay for it. We are not sure that if all the above rumors are correct but iCloud is confirmed for the event. Let’s wait to explore about it more.
2)Wireless syncing : Some tweaks in cydia have been appeared since the launch of iOS 4.0 which points out towards the fact that wireless syncing in iPhone/iPodTouch and iPad is actually possible. However, it required a patch to be installed in iTunes which lead to many complexities while restore (i personally felt that). If Apple got it right, then we may get it in iOS 5.0. This is a much needed option for those folks who don’t want to attach their device frequently through data cable with their Macbooks. Sometimes, it really feel annoying for just syncing two or more things (Apps, games, music etc). Apple has not yet hinted towards it, nor any evidences have been found. So, all we can do is to wait.
3)Widgets : Widgets basically helps us to get the access of all the important apps on the lockscreen such as calls, messages, notifications, etc. Apple has not yet implemented it on iOS and we are looking forward to see them in iOS 5.0. Though, to use these widgets, Apple may need several other backgrounding lockscreens to spread them all around due to restricted space. Apple has the record to do things in the right way which should not create a clutter. Our fingers are crossed. We may able to see this anticipated feature in the next generation operating system.
4)Notifications : Apple began the concept of notifications from iOS 3.0 that was undoubtedly the biggest hit. Some studies over the internet have revealed that Apple notifications services are not up to the mark. The order of the platforms to display the notifications has been correctly done in WebOS, Android and then iOS. So, it is the high time that Apple should revamp its notifications services to make it better than others. This is the reason why one of the iOS developer released a tweak in Cydia, popularly known as ‘MobileNotifier’ which according to him, do the notifications system in the right way. It display the notifications completely, reply and mark as them as pending for later read. We are again not sure as Apple prefer to keep many things as a part of the surprise.
Are we expecting too much ? 😀 Our predictions may or may not come true but we will not stop expecting things from Apple wether it is iOS 5.0 or Mac OS X Lion. We would love to know your thoughts on iOS 5.0. Let’s know in the comment section.
